Venice Gondolas

Gondolas


You won't be least surprised to know that we took many pictures of gondolas. There are 450 in Venice so there's no shortage although I'm told there were 8-10.000 in the 17th and 18th century.



                I like this photo of the gondoliers relaxing and waiting for customers.


                 Many of the gondolas are individually decorated and some are quite lavish.
They gondoliers are adept at going around tight corners and pushing off the canal with one foot when necessary.


Then it was time for us with our driver below. We asked to go on small canals so we could see things that we hadn't on the bigger vaporettos (ferries). This is our driver below. It was fun and we'll remember it for a long time.
