Isle sur la Sorgue Market

Isle sur la Sorgue Market.

Isle sur la Sorgue is renowned for having one of the best or even the best market in Provence. It is held twice weekly on Thursday and Sunday. Sunday is by far the biggest and the town just erupts into a brilliant colourful display of everything Provincial. People flock in and from about 10am it's just about standing room only. Then the market shuts down, people leave and the town returns to it's quiet self.
I could not possibly include all the photos we've taken - there's just constant opportunities. This is a small selection of the possibles.

                                                         Dried foods

                                                          Paella if you're hungry.

                                                              Many salami flavours.

                                                           Breads and sweet treats.

                                                             Amazing aromas of spices.

                                                                 Olives in abundance.

                                                         Cows, goats and sheep cheeses.

Lots of condiments made from fresh products.

We tasted some of these different types of tomatoes. Verdict - all delicious.

                                                    Wild salmon - there's a treat.

                                                                 It's garlic season.

                                                               More salami.

And still the river runs quietly nearby.

Look at how these shoes are used to lead the way to a shop along an alleyway.

Returning back with our purchases.

Ripe rock melon with beautiful prosciutto is one of our new favourite foods. I've never had rock melon that is as flavoursome as it is here.
