Canal Boat Houses

All of the locks have houses besides them. They would have all been inhabited by lock keepers and their families in days past. The Bourgogne Canal was built by hand in the late 17 and early 1800s to carry freight around France - an amazing feat. The lock houses are owned or rented out now and are all different - some lovingly cared for and others abandoned. Just fascinating.
